Maruti Suzuki finally steps into India’s electric SUV space with the e Vitara. However, instead of flashy drama, this EV focuses on range, comfort, and everyday usability.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Design and Platform

Maruti Suzuki enters the EV segment with a cautious yet confident approach, and therefore the e Vitara feels purpose-built rather than experimental. Built on the all-new Heartect-e EV platform, this electric SUV measures 4,275mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,640mm in height. Meanwhile, the 2,700mm wheelbase ensures decent cabin space, while the 185mm ground clearance suits Indian road conditions.

Design-wise, the e Vitara keeps things subtle. Instead of aggressive styling, Maruti focuses on clean lines and aerodynamic efficiency. Moreover, the 3-point Matrix LED DRLs, LED projector headlamps, and LED tail lamps add modern appeal without going overboard. Additionally, the roof-end spoiler and sculpted body panels help improve efficiency.

The SUV rides on 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels paired with low-resistance MRF Wanderer tyres. Consequently, this setup aims to maximize driving range rather than visual flair.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Interior and Features

Step inside, and the cabin feels practical yet contemporary. The twin-deck floating centre console immediately stands out, while the fixed-glass sunroof adds an airy feel. Moreover, the dashboard houses a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system alongside a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.

However, while the screens are responsive, the thick bezels slightly reduce the premium feel. Similarly, the 360-degree camera is helpful but lacks sharp clarity. That said, Maruti excels in ergonomics. Physical buttons for drive modes, electronic parking brake, and auto-hold are thoughtfully placed, ensuring distraction-free driving.

In addition, the e Vitara offers ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver seat, and a flexible 40:20:40 split rear bench with sliding and reclining functions. As a result, long journeys feel comfortable for most passengers.

Rear legroom is generous, although taller occupants may find headroom slightly tight. Meanwhile, boot space stands at 310 litres, and unfortunately, there is no frunk due to the front-mounted motor.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Battery, Motor, and Range

The e Vitara uses a permanent magnet synchronous motor paired with a single-speed transmission. Furthermore, buyers can choose between two LFP battery options: 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller battery produces 105.8kW, while the larger one delivers 128kW. Torque remains consistent at 192.5Nm.

During our drive of the 61kWh variant, the car displayed a range of 457km at 97% charge. Consequently, a real-world range of over 400km seems realistic, while careful driving could push it closer to 450km. Maruti claims a certified range of 543km.

Unlike aggressive EVs, the e Vitara prioritizes smoothness. Therefore, power delivery feels linear and predictable, making it ideal for daily commuting.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Driving Experience

The e Vitara offers Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow drive modes. Meanwhile, regenerative braking supports one-pedal driving, although regen levels can only be adjusted when stationary. The difference between modes is noticeable, with Sport offering quicker responses and Eco focusing on efficiency.

In city conditions, the light steering makes maneuvering effortless. However, at highway speeds, the steering lacks weight, which slightly affects confidence. On the other hand, the compact 5.2-metre turning radius proves extremely useful on narrow roads.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Ride, Handling, and Braking

The suspension setup feels firm. As a result, potholes and speed breakers are felt at low speeds. Moreover, body roll becomes evident during quick direction changes. Nevertheless, at cruising speeds of around 100kmph, the car feels stable.

Braking duties are handled by ventilated disc brakes at both ends. Although stopping power is adequate, the initial bite could be stronger, and the pedal requires some acclimatization.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Safety and ADAS

Safety is a major highlight. The e Vitara has secured a five-star Bharat NCAP rating, which significantly boosts buyer confidence. Additionally, the Heartect-e platform uses over 50% high-tensile steel and includes a robust battery protection system.

Seven airbags come as standard, including a driver knee airbag. Moreover, Level 2 ADAS works reliably in real-world conditions, accurately detecting lane markings without feeling intrusive.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Charging Ecosystem

Charging infrastructure remains a key concern for EV buyers. Therefore, Maruti Suzuki introduces its ‘e for me’ ecosystem with the e Vitara. This unified digital platform connects users to 13 charging partners, enabling seamless access to public chargers.

Currently, over 2,000 charging points are installed across Maruti dealerships, while the company aims to support more than 1,00,000 public charging points by FY30. Additionally, over 1,500 service workshops are EV-ready, ensuring peace of mind.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Verdict

The e Vitara may not be the most exciting electric SUV, but it feels dependable and well thought out. While camera quality and boot space could have been better, the overall package remains solid. Pricing will play a crucial role, although Battery-as-a-Service and assured buyback options strengthen its appeal.

Ultimately, the e Vitara focuses on trust, efficiency, and everyday practicality—qualities Maruti Suzuki buyers value the most.
