New Delhi: JSW MG Motor India has announced another price revision for its most affordable electric car – the MG Comet EV. This marks the second price hike in 2025, following a major revision in May when prices were increased by up to ₹36,000. Now, MG has increased prices across multiple variants by up to ₹15,000, making the EV slightly costlier for new buyers.
Revised Prices for MG Comet EV (Without Battery Subscription)
For customers choosing to buy the MG Comet EV without opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, the prices have gone up for nearly all variants. The base Executive variant now costs ₹7.50 lakh (ex-showroom), up by ₹14,000 from its previous price of ₹7.36 lakh. The Excite and Excite Fast Charging variants have seen a ₹15,000 hike each, and are now priced at ₹8.57 lakh and ₹8.97 lakh respectively. The Exclusive variant will now cost ₹9.56 lakh, also with a ₹15,000 increase. Meanwhile, the Exclusive Fast Charging and Blackstorm Edition variants have seen a ₹14,000 jump and are now priced at ₹9.97 lakh and ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
Revised Prices for MG Comet EV (With Battery-as-a-Service Option)
The BaaS model allows customers to buy the car at a lower initial cost while paying a rental fee for the battery. Interestingly, the Executive variant under this model remains unchanged at ₹4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, all other variants under BaaS have received a flat ₹15,000 hike. The Excite variant is now available at ₹6.20 lakh, and the Excite Fast Charging model at ₹6.60 lakh. The Exclusive and Exclusive Fast Charging variants are now priced at ₹7.20 lakh and ₹7.60 lakh respectively. The top-end Blackstorm Edition will now cost ₹7.63 lakh under this model.
Battery Rental Rates Also Increased
Apart from the price hike on car variants, MG has also revised the battery rental charges for BaaS customers. Earlier, the battery subscription was charged at ₹2.9 per kilometre. As per the latest update, it has now been increased to ₹3.1 per kilometre. This could have a significant impact on running costs, especially for those who drive the EV daily over long distances.
What It Means for Buyers
Despite the price hikes, the MG Comet EV continues to be one of the most affordable electric cars in India. With its compact size, stylish design, and city-friendly features, it remains a top choice for urban commuters. However, the frequent revisions in pricing indicate rising input costs or changes in production strategy. Customers planning to buy the MG Comet EV should consider booking soon to avoid further hikes in the near future.
